Zhep Udyogininchi — "the leap for women empowerment" — operates under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises to widen credit access for women-led enterprises.

The internship focused on why formal credit remains out of reach for small MSMEs: collateral requirements, documentation burden, informal bookkeeping, and limited awareness of government schemes.

More than 40 structured field interviews with small enterprise owners were conducted under Ms. Poornima, producing qualitative evidence on where the financing gap actually binds rather than where policy assumes it does.
